The First Lady of Kwara State, Professor Olufolake AbdulRazaq has advocated the need for stakeholders to provide enabling environment for good menstrual hygiene.
Professor AbdulRazaq made the call while distributing sanitary pads in commemoration at this Year’s World Menstrual Hygiene Day held at First-Lady’s office, Government House, Ilorin.

The Wife of the Governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Afolashade Opeyemi, emphasized that menstrual hygiene is crucial for the well-being and future of the girl child, noting that it can make or mar the life of the girl child.
She, therefore, provided a practical demonstration on the proper use and disposal of menstrual pads, aimed at educating and empowering women and girls to manage their menstruation with confidence and dignity.

In his remarks, the Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House, Princess Adebukola Babalola appreciated the First Lady on the initiative and enjoined beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items.
She also admonished the students to be disciplined as menstruation is a sign of adulting.

Some of the beneficiaries, commended the First Lady for the gesture, saying that the items will go a long way in helping them.
Schools that participated at the programme included Queen Elizabeth Secondary School, Saint Anthony Secondary School and Government Day Secondary School Tanke, Ilorin.
