Pupils of St. Mary’s International School, Ilorin have been advised to remain mindful of the need to build a solid foundation for their future ambitions through hard work and concentration on their studies.
The counsel came from the General Manager of Kwara State Printing and Publishing Corporation (Publishers of The Herald Newspapers) Mr. Yomi Adeboye when he received the pupils at the Corporation’s headquarters in Ilorin on Friday.
Along with their teachers, Ms Veta Salubi and Ms Tina Raphael, the pupils were conducted round and enlightened about the Corporation’s production processes and facilities by the General Manager and his team.

Besides providing simplified explanations about the nature of journalism, newspapers and production processes, Adeboye urged the visiting pupils to always try to learn as much as possible noting that such knowledge will stand them in good stead if they choose to become professional journalists.
According to him, journalism requires proficiency in the English Language because it is the nation’s official language and major media platforms but knowledge of one or more other languages would be an added advantage.

He told the pupils that aspiring journalists must be good readers and writers in order to adequately serve their readers and audiences.
In her remarks, the school administrator Ms Veta Salubi expressed appreciation on behalf of the management and pupils of St. Mary’s International School, Ilorin.

She noted that the visit to The Herald was indeed highly enlightening for the pupils and teachers; she also thanked the General Manager for personally receiving the pupils despite his schedule.
