A student of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL)Miss Aisha Nna Muhammed is set to represent Nigeria at the World University Games in Germany – FISU, following her inspiring emergence and qualification for the extraordinary global competition.
Aisha,a female student from the Department of Biotechnology, will participate in the 800m and 1500m race in Germany, having won both competitions at the Fédération Internationale du Sport Universitaire (FISU) trials held earlier at the University of Jos, Nigeria.
The young athlete is one of the recipients of the one-year scholarship awarded by the University for their impressive performance at the 2024 African University Games.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi while receiving Aisha along with the Director of Sports, Mr. Ilori George Adebayo and other officials in his office on Monday, charged her to be a good ambassador of the Institution and strive to make Nigeria and FUL proud in the forthcoming international games. Professor Akinwumi added that a new and promising chapter of her life journey has unfolded, and urged her to make the best out of it.
Furthermore, the Vice-Chancellor seized the opportunity to admonish other students to work hard and distinguish themselves in the various sporting activities, assuring that the University would continue to encourage students’ participation in sports by providing an enabling environment and ensuring reward for excellence.
This global recognition and giant stride achieved by the University further underscores the administration’s commitment and pragmatic approach to sport development at the emerging citadel of learning. It also impels the University Management’s continued efforts to nurture sport talents and churn out well-rounded graduates who are not just academically sound but also groomed sportswise to represent Nigeria and fly the University’s flag at the international spotlight.
