The Kogi State Police Command has pledged operational support to the Kogi State Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) in its responsibilities and safeguarding power installations across the state.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Miller Dantawaye made the commitment while receiving the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of KERC, Engr. Ibrahim S. Abdwaaris, at his office in Lokoja Tuesday
Mr. Dantawaye highlighted the importance of the interface stating that it will assist in the smooth discharge of KERC’s functions.
He assured that the Command will provide necessary logistics support to drive the Commission’s efforts towards achieving a stable, reliable, affordable, fair, and cost-effective electricity market in the state.
The Police Commissioner emphasized the importance of steady power supply, noting that “light is very important, because without light it’s easy and safe for criminal elements to operate under the cover of darkness.”
He assured that the Command will create a safe and secured environment for KERC to operate.
Engr. Abdwaaris pointed out that the visit was aimed at soliciting the support of the law enforcement agencies and other relevant stakeholders to achieve the objectives of KERC.
He emphasized that collaboration from security agencies will enhance the seamless discharge of the Commission’s responsibilities.
The Chairman/CEO was accompanied on the visit by top management staff, including the Commissioner for Engineering, Engr. Michael Meliga, Commissioner for Legal, Prof. Ibrahim Abdulkarim, Commissioner for Market Rate, Dr. Abdulsalam Yusuf, Commission Secretary, Alhaji Kasim Mabo, and Head of Public Affairs,Alhaji Ali Atabor.
