Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Wednesday called for stronger cooperation among Muslim nations to halt Israeli “crimes” in Gaza.
The call was made during a phone conversation between the two leaders, as confirmed in a statement from the Iranian president’s office.
They discussed recent regional developments and bilateral relations.
President Pezeshkian emphasised the urgent need for collective action by Muslim countries to prevent the continuation of the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, describing Israel’s actions as “unacceptable.”
He expressed hope that Muslim states would intensify diplomatic efforts and apply pressure to stop the violence.
On bilateral ties, Pezeshkian called for expanding cooperation between Iran and Malaysia in all areas of mutual interest.
Prime Minister Anwar emphasised the Iranian leader’s sentiments, strongly condemning what he described as Israeli “crimes” and “genocide” in Gaza.
He noted that Malaysia had issued a firm statement against Israel’s actions and was actively pursuing diplomatic efforts to end the crisis.
“We hope to stop these crimes through cooperation with other Muslim countries,” Anwar stated.
He also reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment to enhancing its bilateral relations with Iran across various sectors.
