The Kwara State House of Assembly has raised the state’s 2025 budget size by over N48billion, bringing the total revised budget to six hundred and thirty-two billion, seven hundred and one million, five hundred and twenty-one thousand, eight hundred and one naira (N632.701.521.801billion).
This was made known in the report of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation on the Revised and Supplementary Appropriation Bill for 2025, which was presented at its plenary on Thursday.
The Chairman of the Committee, Arinola Fatimoh Lawal, laid the report on the floor of the House.
Lawal, a member representing Ilorin East Constituency in the House, said the revised recurrent revenue now stands at four hundred and seventy-one billion, five hundred and sixty-eight million, three hundred and nineteen thousand, three hundred and five naira — an increase of more than seventy-one billion naira from the earlier approved figure.
On the expenditure side, the revised recurrent expenditure is put at two hundred and three billion, forty-eight million, fifty-three thousand, seven hundred and eighty-one naira, showing a slight reduction of about two-point-two billion naira compared to the earlier projection.
The revised Capital Expenditure is now pegged at four hundred and twenty-nine billion, six hundred and fifty-three million, four hundred and sixty-eight thousand and twenty naira, reflecting an increase of more than fifty billion naira over the earlier approved figure for the fiscal year.
Lawal, while laying the report on the table, expressed gratitude to the House for the opportunity to serve, alongside Deputy Chairman, Mohammed Kareem Musa of Patigi Constituency and other committee members.
Shortly after the presentation, the Speaker, Engr Yakubu Danladi Salihu, directed the Clerk to the House to produce a clean copy of the revised budget for onward transmission to the Governor for assent.
