The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced the temporary relocation of its Kwara State orientation camp from Yikpata, Edu Local Government Area, to Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin.
The decision follows security concerns in Yikpata and its surrounding communities, which have witnessed an increase in kidnapping and banditry activities in recent months.
Some NYSC officials confirmed that the move is aimed at safeguarding corps members posted to the state for the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream II orientation exercise which comes up between September 24 and October 14 2025.
The Kwara State Government, in collaboration with the NYSC directorate, has thus assured prospective corps members and their families of maximum security.
Armed soldiers and security operatives will be deployed throughout the exercise.
An inspection of the Kwara Polytechnic facilities has also been ordered to ensure the venue meets NYSC standards for accommodation, drills, and training.
