The University of Ilorin has reaffirmed the sustenance of its long-standing record of uninterrupted academic sessions, citing strong collaboration with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and other unions.
This was made known by the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Alex Morenikeji-Aremu, who also said that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has streamlined the admission process nationwide, mandating all institutions to conclude admissions by the approved date.
On the University’s relationship with ASUU and other unions, the Dean described Unilorin as a “family-oriented institution” that thrives on harmony, mutual respect, and responsible engagement.
“Our University is peculiar and very lucky. What we do here is that we don’t just run as a university, we run as a family, students, staff, and management all working together,” he told theheraldnews.ng in an exclusive interview.
He stressed that the institution’s peaceful environment is a result of cooperation among the various unions, including ASUU, NASU, SSANU, and the Student Union.
“There’s nothing to worry about. We have responsible and responsive unions on campus that cooperate with management to ensure smooth academic activities,” he added.
Over the years, the University of Ilorin has maintained a reputation as having the most stable academic calendar among Nigeria’s public universities, a feat credited to its culture of dialogue, discipline, and dedication to uninterrupted learning.
