The lawmaker representing Irepodun Constituency in the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Shola Odetundun has made a significant move to fortify local security architecture through the donation of a new operational patrol vehicle to the Irepodun Local Vigilante Group.
During the handover ceremony, which was held at his constituency office, there was also a massive outreach program where cash and food items were distributed to widows, the elderly, and vulnerable residents to mark the Yuletide season.

Hon. Odetundun, who chairs the House Committee on Business Innovation, Industry, and Women Affairs, explained that the donation will provide a much-needed boost to the mobility and response time of local security operatives, adding that peace remains the bedrock of progress.
“Sustainable development and socio-economic progress can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace and security.
“The protection of lives and property remains a top priority of my representation,” he also said.

The lawmaker commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for authorizing the deployment of additional security personnel to Kwara State and praised Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his proactive leadership in maintaining state-wide safety.
While receiving the vehicle on behalf of the community, the Chairman of Irepodun Local Government, Hon. Abdulazeez Yakubu Tinuola described the intervention as an “uncommon display of selfless service.”
“Beyond the immediate security need, this high-value vehicle demonstrates a deep understanding of the challenges faced by our grassroots operatives,” the Chairman remarked.
The event turned festive as the lawmaker distributed “Christmas palliatives” to ensure the less privileged were not excluded from the season’s celebrations. This tradition of support was lauded by community leaders as a consistent hallmark of Odetundun’s tenure.

Addressing the audience, Hon. Odetundun reminded residents that security cannot be left to the government alone. Therefore, e appealed to Corporate Organizations to provide logistic support to local groups; Traditional Rulers to foster cooperation between subjects and security agencies; Youths and Residents to provide timely, credible information to authorities.
“Security is a collective responsibility. When we all play our roles, we can protect our communities and build a prosperous future,” Odetundun concluded.
