The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted 290,450 pills of tramadol (250mg) and pregabalin capsules in a major drug bust across multiple Nigerian states, including Kano, Lagos, and Kaduna. This is contained in a statement on Sunday by NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi. Babafemi said a syndicate’s attempt to smuggle cannabis from Thailand to Lagos through courier firms was also foiled. The Nigerian Army has dismissed as false and misleading an online report claiming that bandits overran troops and stole arms and ammunition in Kwara State. The report, published on Sunday by an online platform, had alleged that bandits ambushed and overpowered soldiers, seizing six General Purpose Machine Guns (GPMGs) and 30,000 rounds of ammunition in the Obanla area. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has said that 166 people died from Lassa fever between January and September 2025, with the case fatality rate now higher than 2024. This is contained in Epidemiological Week 37, covering September 8 to 14, cited on the NCDC website on Thursday.
