The Kwara State Ministry of Environment has announced that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise for February will take place on Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM across the state.
The Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge, urged residents to participate fully by cleaning their residential and business environments, ensuring that their surroundings remain hygienic and free of waste.
The Commissioner emphasized that vehicular and human movement will be restricted during the exercise. She also assured residents that waste management trucks will be available to collect and dispose of refuse at government-approved dump sites.
She further warned against illegal dumping, stating that disposing of waste on pedestrian walkways, roadsides, drainages, canals, or other unauthorized locations is a punishable offence under environmental laws. She also cautioned against any attempt to obstruct sanitation officials from carrying out their duties, noting that such actions will be met with legal consequences.
In her message to Muslim residents, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge extended her best wishes for the upcoming Ramadan, praying for Allah’s protection during and beyond the sacred month. She also encouraged all residents to uphold cleanliness in their homes and business areas as part of their civic duty.
Residents are advised to comply with the directives to ensure a cleaner and healthier Kwara for all.
