All workers in Lagos State Civil Service are to report back to their offices and begin regular Monday to Friday working days, with effect from March 31st, 2025.
This follows a directive by the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu; theheraldnews.ng recalls that in February 2024, the governor had introduced flexible working conditions where some categories of staff, especially the junior cadres, came to the office for only two days of the week while working from home on the remaining days. But the senior staff had been reporting to their offices every day.
The system was introduced to cushion the effects of the petrol subsidy removal by the Federal Government.
The government announced the reversal of its work-from-home policy through a circular released on Tuesday from the office of the Head of Service, Bode Agoro.
The circular titled “Cancellation of the Work from Home Initiative in the Lagos State Public Service,” informed that the new directive was a sequel to the implementation of the new minimum wage by the state government.
“Further to the implementation of the New Minimum Wage in the State Public Service and other commendable measures put in place by this administration to improve the welfare and well-being of Public Servants in Lagos State, it is hereby notified for general information that Mr Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has approved the cancellation of the work from home initiative in the Lagos State Public Service.
“To this end, cancellation of the work-from-home initiative which had been in place since February 2024 will take effect from 31st March 2025.
“Given the above, Public Servants are implored to fully rededicate themselves to the effective discharge of their duties and ensure improved service delivery in their various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAS),” the circular also stated.
