The Chairman of Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State, Alhaji Issa Jibril has warned herdsmen in the area against grazing on people’s farmlands, saying such can cause tension with farmers.
Jibril warned that any person caught or found culpable would be promptly apprehended and handed over to the law enforcement agencies for appropriate punitive measures.
He told theheraldnews.ng in an exclusive interview that Baruten is an area known for its peace and that all hands must be on deck to ensure that peace reigns supreme at all times.
He warned the people of the area against indiscriminate bush burning capable of destroying farm produces and other properties and appealed to cattle rearers to steer clear of farmlands within the local government and its environ.
“We want our people to be cautious in bush burning as we are in the period of Cashew nuts production and other farm produces which should be done with guidance.
“Fire disasters should be averted by all means. I am appealing to my people to avoid any disaster at this point in time. We need to know that the Governor of the state, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s leadership is strictly committed to safety of its citizens and property at all times,” he said.
Jibril also added that the Governor is passionate about peaceful coexistence of the people and stable political life, describing such as the basis for socioeconomic development anywhere in the world.
The chairman applauded the state Chief Executive for his purposeful and appreciable leadership, stressing that the people of the state have never had it so good.
“Since the beginning of political dispensation in the country, Kwarans have not had a leader that is so patient and listening like Governor AbdulRazaq who has touched many lives, uplifting socioeconomic wellbeing of the downtrodden and made welfare of civil servants and retirees part of his priorities”
While lauding the Governor with the way he has been handling the affairs of the State, the council boss assured him of the total support of his people toward the success of the administration.
