In a strategic move to enhance youth entrepreneurship and drive economic growth, the Kwara State Ministry of Youth Development, led by Commissioner Amb. Ndanusa Usman Shehu, has initiated a partnership with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). The collaboration aims to simplify business registration processes, provide mentorship, and ensure regulatory compliance for youth-led businesses in the state.
During a courtesy visit to the CAC office in Ilorin, Commissioner Shehu emphasized the government’s commitment to empowering young entrepreneurs by creating an enabling environment for their businesses to thrive.
“We seek to partner with you to simplify the process of formalizing youth-led businesses, provide mentorship, and encourage compliance with business regulations. This engagement reflects the government’s commitment to youth empowerment, job creation, and economic development,” Shehu stated.
The Director of CAC, Mr. Tunde Adeoti, welcomed the partnership, affirming the Commission’s dedication to supporting young entrepreneurs. He noted that the CAC has been engaging with state ministries and agencies to educate youth on the importance of formal business registration.
Adeoti highlighted the benefits of registering businesses, stressing that formalization enables entrepreneurs to access government support, attract investors, and gain financial stability. He also reiterated the Federal Government’s interest in transitioning informal businesses into the formal sector to foster growth and sustainability.
Also present at the meeting were key officials from both the Ministry and CAC, including the Director of Personnel Finance and Supply, Dr. Funmilola Adenike Ajide; Director of Youth, Alh. Abdulsalam Akeem; Assistant Director Administration, Mr. Sikiru Aminu; Assistant Director of CAC, Mrs. Mujidat Bashar; and Principal Youth Development Officer, Mr. Taofik Zubair.
This collaboration is expected to drive a wave of youth entrepreneurship in Kwara State, ensuring that young business owners can operate in a structured and legally recognized manner, ultimately contributing to economic development.
