The Kwara State Government has informed that it would commence soil testing and analysis services under the Nigeria Farmers’ Soil Health Scheme (NFSHS). The Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr Afees Abolore on Tuesday in Ilorin described the development as a major step towards advancing evidence-based and sustainable agriculture in Kwara, adding that the initiative was inaugurated by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security. In its bid to promote gender equality and inclusivity in governance and decision-making processes, the League of Women Voters (NILOWV) has called for full implementation of 35 percent affirmative action. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has requested the Senate to confirm the appointment of Prof. Joash Amupitan as Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The President’s request was conveyed in a letter addressed to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and read at plenary on Tuesday. The National Council of State had, on Oct. 9, unanimously approved the appointment of Amupitan as the new Chairman of INEC. Cameroon’s opposition candidate, Issa Tchiroma Bakary, on Tuesday claimed that he won the country’s presidential election, which concluded on Sunday. In a televised address to his supporters, he claimed that the results showed an “overwhelming victory. “Our victory is clear. It must be respected. The Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah has formally defected to the All Progressives Congress, (APC), hinging the action on the fact that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), did not recognise the voice of his people. For broom sellers in Enugu its been brisk businesses fueled by the defections of Governor Peter Mbah from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
