As Nigerians await the implementation of Federal Government’s approval of State Police, the national Steering Committee on the Establishment of State Police has proposed a four-phase architecture transition for State Police. The Steering Committee on the Establishment of State Police was set up by the Inspector General (I-G) of Police, Mr Olatunji Disu, to work towards a roadmap for the policy implementation. The Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday ordered the remand of alleged coup plotters in the Department of State Services (DSS) custody. Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, in a ruling, also ordered accelerated hearing in the case. Justice Abdulmalik equally ordered the DSS to give the lawyers and family members access to the defendants within a reasonable time. The judge then adjourned the matter until April 27 for commencement of trial and for hearing of the bail applications of the defendants. The Government of Cross River State, through its Commissioner for Health, Dr Henry Ayuk, said on Tuesday that it has recorded an occurrence of COVID-19 in the state.
