The First Lady of Kwara State and Chairperson Nigeria Governors Spouses Forum, Amb. Prof. Olufolake AbdulRazaq has affirmed the importance of routine vaccination in the prevention and limitation of the spread and outbreaks of disease in the society.
Amb. AbdulRazaq made this affirmation during an awareness and advocacy walk for Measles and Rubella vaccine introduction which was organized by her office on 21st February, 2025 in Ilorin.

The First Lady who was represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Chief Mrs Oluwakemi Folashade said that according to the World Health Organization (WHO) Measles and Rubella are highly contagious and viral diseases.
She noted that despite the availability of safe and effective vaccine, it remains a major cause of death especially among young children globally and can also lead to serious adverse outcomes such as blindness, pneumonia and encephalitis if not prevented and treated on time.

While commending Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration for putting the health care system in the frontline of action and also making it accessible to the people of the state by providing free Measles and Rubella vaccination in all primary healthcare outlets in the state, Prof AbdulRazaq further enjoined individuals including children, adults and pregnant women to present themselves to routine vaccination for a disease-free society.
The awareness walk had in attendance, Staff of Ministry of Women Affairs, Staff of primary healthcare, members of the Red Cross, members of the girls brigade, religious and political groups, amongst others.
