The Chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Thursday pledged the support of the 36 governors for the federal government’s Nutrition 774 Initiative.
AbdulRazaq gave the assurance during the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the Council Chamber, Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The Nutrition 774 Initiative, which was officially launched by the Vice President during the 148th Meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC), is a clarion call to action by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
Vice President Shettima noted that the consequences of malnutrition are far-reaching, transcending the health sector and are the triggers of the calamities that limit productivity, learning and the growth of the country.

“This initiative is, therefore, an invitation to all stakeholders: our governors, ministers, local government chairmen, development partners, and the private sector—to take action. It is also a pledge to the people of Nigeria that we will not stand by while our children suffer the preventable consequences of malnutrition.
“Through this initiative, every mother and child—regardless of their location—will have access to lifesaving nutrition interventions tailored to their unique needs,” he added, urging all the governors and other stakeholders to take the initiative seriously, as its success “rests on collaboration and the investments we all make to sustain it,” the Vice President said.
A statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant (New Media) to the Governor, Olayinka Fafoluyi informed that during the meeting, AbdulRazaq spoke on behalf of the 36 governors in his capacity as the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum.
He assured the Federal Government of the preparedness of state governments to support the programme in order to solve the problem of malnutrition in the country, adding that it is affecting the nation’s growth and progress.
