The Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has described the death of a former Head of Service of the State, Mrs. Susan Modupe Oluwole as an occurrence that left him deeply saddened.
Oluwole died on Wednesday barely one year after her statutory retirement from the State Civil Service; she was aged 58.
The Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye said in a press statement on Thursday that AbdulRazaq recalled that the former Head of Service was a credible and dependable authority in matters of public service.
He noted that the deceased attained her heights in the Civil Service by “dint of hard work, grit, brilliance, character, and impeccable institutional memory.”
The Governor said he is proud to have worked with Mrs Oluwole as a respected technocrat, describing her contributions and services to the state as truly exceptional and invaluable.
Governor AbdulRazaq commiserated with her family, particularly her husband and her aged father, as well as the entire civil service hierarchy in the state.
He prayed to God to repose her soul and give the family and contemporaries the courage to bear this huge loss.
Also on Thursday, the Office of the Head of Service said in a statement that Oluwole’s death on Wednesday had left everyone in sorrow and heavy hearts.
“Mrs Oluwole joined the State Civil Service in 1989 and she retired in June 2024 following a prolonged illness.
“She was appointed the Kwara State Head of Service in 2017, she was the 12th and second female head of service in the State’s Civil Service history to Occupy this position.
“Mrs Oluwole was dedicated and exceptional Public servant that made significant contributions to the development of the State Civil Service during her tenure.
“Mrs Oluwole will be remembered for her Outstanding leadership Qualities, Vision and Commitment to the service. Her legacy will continue to inspire and motivate many lives,” the statement concluded.
